Keynotes from Midburn-Reconciliation meeting 19/10/2016

Action Items:

1. Keren & Majd - prepare invitation text - coming 4 days.
2. Yakir, Keren, Majd, Rachel, Maha - invite West-bank Palestinians. (if you've got friends from the west bank, please also invite them. Women too!
3. Baroch - hold the list of the lucky first 25 who would confirm attendance.
4. Baroch - check with Maha about relevant equipment, what should we bring from Israel? e.g. sound system.
5. a core team has to hold another focused meeting before the event. It can happen only after we reach some kind of West bank involvement in such core team.

Keren - the challenge is to create involvement, to engage Palestinians in this process, in this effort.

Main focus should be on hosting a space for Palestinian leadership and participation. So we should really keep our attention on how to bring this participation vision into reality.

Creating space for the 10 principles inside the event. We need to think about greeting into this micro-burn, so that virgins are brought into awareness of the burn culture and 10 principles.

Suggested ratios:

• 50% Virgins - Palestinians from the West bank/Jerusalem
• 50% 'Experienced' burners - from which 25% are Israeli-Arabs and 25% Jews and others. this '50%' is the easiest to invite, probably if we just take the people on our whatsapp group - we are already over 12 people (half of the 25 people we invite to Rawabi).

Atmosphere: we 'experienced' burners would bring custums, 'Theatrical scenery' (תפאורה) and LEDs as gifting. Maybe we should think of other content/art/games/gifting to bring that would create the atmosphere.

Music - we should focus on engaging a Palestinian DJ and also try to motivate Asafski to DJ as the Israeli counterpart :-)

We should also keep in mind that we want to keep away from police (Israeli or Palestinian), and so we should think about neighbors and keeping the peace with our environment.

We started a new Facebook group, please invite your friends that have been to a burn event such as Midburn, Africaburn or even Burningman itself. To make the group more cosmopolitan, let's try to avoid the low-hanging fruits... so for the time being, please try to focus on non-jewish invitees.
